1999 – The Spark
A truly private golf experience did not exist in Los Cabos. The team began ideating the perfect premier golf experience.
1999 – The Land
The picturesque plot of land that would come to be known as Querencia is officially purchased. The scenic, yet rugged 900 acres of land featured stunning vistas of the mountains to the Sea of Cortez.
2000 – Groundbreaking
Construction on Querencia’s award-winning Tom Fazio course—the first of its kind to exist outside of the United States and Canada— begins.
2000 – Building Community
Flagship membership program is launched, gathering 100 Members in just four short years (2000–2004).
2001 – Coming Home
Ground is broken on Querencia’s first home. Built in an area originally known as Section 19, the neighborhood is known today as La Loma.
2001 – Teeing Off
Querencia welcomes internationally renowned professional golfers Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia to play the premier round on the brand-new course.

An Era of Growth
With the community beginning to take shape and the golf course open to Members, Querencia moves into a decade of expansion.
2004 – Continued Growth
Jorge Carrera, CEO and Partner, joins the Querencia leadership team to bring to life the next stages of the development. Within the next year, 900 additional acres were purchased bringing the total property acreage to 1,800.
2005-2007 – A Place to Gather
The Clubhouse is built, forming the center of Querencia culture and community. This is a space where Members can connect to unwind and enjoy the company of family and friends.
2006 – Giving Back
Querencia partners with the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation to create the Duckett Challenge, a golf classic in memory of Member Fred Duckett. This relationship continues to thrive today, and Querencia hosts an annual event to benefit the children of Los Cabos.
2010 – Going with the Flow
Querencia secures water rights from a 150-liters-per-second city water treatment plant for golf course irrigation. This shifts the community from being dam-dependent to having a permanent water source solution—an important advantage for master planned golf communities.
2014 – Exciting New Changes
The initial land parcel for the coveted Beach Club is purchased. Tunnel construction begins to safely and seamlessly connect the greater Querencia property to the oceanside retreat.
2014 – Resilience on Display
Hurricane Odile befalls the Baja California peninsula. The Querencia community unites in support of one another and the staff, engaging in philanthropic efforts that benefit the region as a whole.
Expansion and Evolution
The period of recovery following Hurricane Odile marked an era of tremendous change for Querencia—both in management and landscape.
2017 – Outdoor Adventure
The incredible outdoor amenities Querencia is known for begin to take shape: 10 mile trail system is created, property renovations and upgrades are made and family-focused activities are built out.
2017 – The More the Merrier
Querencia changes to a vertical Membership model and expands at a remarkable rate. This model allows children and grandchildren of Members to become Members of the community, granting them access to all Querencia amenities and fostering a more vibrant, multigenerational community.
2019 – Continual Improvements
The Clubhouse campus grows to include pickleball courts, Foot Golf, an organic garden and even amenities for our four-legged friends: a dog park.
2020 – Increased Oceanfront Footprint
The acquisition of 3 additional parcels along the beach allows for the footprint of the Beach Club to be expanded. Construction also begins on our newest neighborhoods: El Campo, El Parque, and the first oceanfront offering, the Ocean Residences.
2021 and 2022 – The legacy continues
Amenities for everyone can be found around the property, including the new Oasis comfort stations on the golf course and the grand opening of the new Beach Club. Construction also started on our newest neighborhoods: El Valle, El Lago and additional Verandas.
2023 – 24 Years and Still Growing
The Querencia adventure continues as we optimize and improve the Querencia experience. This season we look forward to unveiling the Ocean Residences and breaking ground on the Canyon Club which will feature updated amenities for the entire family, and welcoming new neighbors as we introduce new communities.
